Our College Homecoming event, a buffet breakfast for alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and their guests in the Clarion Townhouse Hotel dining room, took place Saturday, October 25, 2003. President Andrew Sorensen and his wife were on hand for the festivities and to acknowledge the winners of the Liberal Arts Outstanding Alumni, Outstanding Graduate Alumni, Outstanding young Alumni, and Service Award. The Outstanding Alumnus was Peter McCausland, chief executive officer of Airgas, Inc. of Radnor, Pennsylvania. Executive vice president of Nickelodeon, Marva Smalls, won the 2003 award for Outstanding Graduate Alumna. J. Strom Thrumond, Jr., South Carolina's U.S. Attorney, was honored with the Outstanding Young Alumnus award. Mary Baskin-Waters, garnered the college's 2003 Service Award for her advocacy of women's issues on the Governor's Commission on Women and the Women's Studies partnership board.
